LD Renommée started as a research project on Jan van Krimpen’s type designs during Holger Königsdörfer’s master studies at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague. By bringing together the Roman and Italic by using the same uppercase characters he is paying respect to Renaissance type master such as Ludovico Vicentino degli Arrighi. LD Renommée is not a facsimile or classical revival, but a contemporary interpretation of van Krimpen’s and Arrighi’s historical letterforms, revised and prepared for today’s typographic requirements. The LD Renommée type family consists of two styles: Regular (including Small Caps) and Italic. These fonts provide an extended character set to support all European languages. Additional glyphs such as alternate letterforms, various figure sets, currency symbols, arrows and swashes make the LD Renommée family suitable for many different fields of high-quality typography.
